1. Information we collect

• Account information: name, username, email, phone number, and password.
• Profile information: bio, skills, city, avatar, portfolio and social links, and anything else you choose to add.
• Content you post: threads, replies, listings, images, and messages sent through the platform.
• Transaction information: subscription plan and billing status from our payment processor, Paystack. We don't store your card details ourselves.
• Usage and device information: pages viewed, listings you've contacted, log data, and push-notification subscription details, if you enable notifications.

2. How we use your information

• To operate the forum, marketplace, and account features you use every day;
• To screen content for policy violations, using a mix of automated tools and human review;
• To generate optional AI features, such as thread summaries and inventory parsing;
• To process Premium subscription payments and manage billing;
• To send you account, transactional, and (if enabled) push notifications;
• To keep the platform safe, including detecting spam, fraud, and abuse.

3. Who we share information with

We share information only where it's needed to run the Service:

• Paystack, to process Premium subscription payments;
• Google (Perspective API and Safe Browsing), to help screen content for harassment, spam, and unsafe links;
• Google Gemini, to power optional AI features like thread summaries and inventory-list parsing;
• Our hosting provider, to store and serve the platform;
• Other members, for the parts of your profile and content that are public by design, such as your username, posts, and listings.

We don't sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. If you enable push notifications, your browser stores a subscription that lets us send you updates, which you can disable at any time from your account menu.

5. Data retention

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal information, except where we need to keep certain records for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

6. Your rights

You can review and update most of your information directly from your profile settings. You can also request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@naijaloop.com.

7. Children's privacy

NaijaLoop is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children, and we'll remove any account found to belong to a minor.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including password hashing and access controls, to protect your information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password for your account.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
