Former Petroleum Minister Denied Trial In Nigeria But The Question Is Why

An application by the Ex-petroleum minister Diezani Alison-Madueke who’s implicated in a N450 million Naira fraud case to be tried in Nigeria has been rejected by the Federal High Court in Lagos but the question is why.

the judgment was delivered on Wednesday, November 1,as the court turned down all of Diezani’s request, including an order mandating the attorney general of the federation to facilitate her return from the UK, where is currently being investigated for alleged fraud by the metropolitan police.

Nigerian are wondering if the UK is the best place to try the former minister.

The trial judge, Justice Rilwan Aikawa, described Diezani’s application as bizarre and a misuse of court processes but well meaning Nigerians are wondering why.

He said he would not allow himself to be used to frustrate Diezani’s imminent trial in the United Kingdom, where she is currently under investigation and on bail.

 The question is why ? Could it be that there’s more to it than meets the eye?  Well meaning Nigerians are wondering why the UK is suddenly the best place to try the embattled minister.
