Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has emerged winner of the People Democratic Party, PDP, presidential election ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The election which was conducted on Saturday, October 6 at the party’s convention place in Port Harcourt, the former vice president defeated 11 other political bigwigs in the party.
Atiku polled 1532 to defeat his closest rival, Aminu Tambuwal, who polled 693 votes.
Coming in at third place is Sen. Bukola Saraki who got (317 votes), Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo with (111 votes), followed by Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso with (158 votes), Others are Ahmed Makarfi (74 votes), and Jonah Jang,(19 votes), David Mark (35 votes); Sule Lamido (96 votes); Atahiru Bafarawa (48 votes), Tanimu Turaki (65 votes) Datti Baba-Ahmed (05 votes) and Stanley Osifo.
Atiku is expected to contest against President Muhammadu Buhari, who also on Sunday was declared candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with no contest.
