Nigeria’s information minister, Lai Mohammed, on Wednesday denied ever giving Israel any ultimatum over the deportation of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu who escaped assassination attempt by the regime’s army.
Nnamdi Kanu gave a speech in Jerusalem, from where he reminded the the regime that renounced his Nigeria citizenship in 2015 while declaring himself a Biafran.
He stated : “I am not a Nigerian. I already renounced Nigeria in 2015. I am a Biafran with British Nationality. I can not be tried by a court I do not recognize. I do not recognize Nigeria . I can only come to the court with UN supervision.”
Meanwhile, the information Lai Mohammed in discarding the report continued: “I was in London when I heard the story about Nnamdi Kanu surfacing in Israel. I was not in a position to make any statement.
But before I knew it, within a few hours, I saw my picture with a story saying that I had actually given Israel ultimatum to return Nnamdi Kanu otherwise, we will send them missiles.
“I just laughed. It speaks to what we are talking about fake news because it is probably the biggest threat in the run-up to the elections.
“Having said that I have nothing more to add, to the issue of the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.”
The regime, through the presidential media publicity spokes man,Garba Shehu, had already stated that his trial would continue as soon as he entered the country assuring Nigerians not to panic , that they had nothing to worry about.
