Biafra: IPOB Writes UN To Prevail On Buhari’s Government To Obey Court Order

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has written the United Nations UN & International community,  about the ruling of the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights, ACHR, against the Nigerian government.

The group is demanding the international community to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to obey court order.

The IPOB made this known in a statement signed by the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Comrade Emma Powerful.

IPOBAccording to the statement, “We, the IPOB worldwide, have today (yesterday) formally notified the civilised world about the interim ruling of the ACHR against the Nigerian government and the need for international community to prevail upon the administration of Muhammadu Buhari to abide by the rulings as pronounced.

“Buhari’s administration is infamous for persistent and habitual disobedience of court orders. They have no regard for the rule of law as evidenced by numerous instances where they have declined to obey judicial pronouncements.

“In the light of this undemocratic and dictatorial tendency of the present regime in Nigeria, we the IPOB through the office of the Directorate of State have communicated to world bodies, the need to hold Nigeria accountable to its international obligations especially its duty to honour legally binding treaties.

“Without any rigorous oversight, the Buhari’s regime will treat the latest pronouncement by ACHR with the same disdain as ordinary court judgements in Nigeria.

“We firmly believe that it is the duty of the civilised world to hold brutal regimes in Africa, especially those that assumed power under the cover of democracy, to account for their actions.”

The ACHR had through its Decision on Seizure and Provisional Measures, on March 8, 2018, asked the Federal Government to rescind its decision branding IPOB and its members as terrorists as well as the proscription.

It also, condemned the “arrest and lengthy detention of Nnamdi Kanu (as IPOB leader); and the lethal military attacks against his person (while he was free on bail), his family, and members of IPOB in September 2017; and which attacks led to many deaths, wounding and military arrests and detentions of IPOB members, including the troubling fact that Nnamdi Kanu has not been seen or heard from since the said attacks.”

The ACHR, while “granting provisional measures,” further stated that, “the continuing and menacing presence of armed soldiers at several checkpoints in the five states of southeastern Nigeria which has created an atmosphere of fear that many more IPOB members (including Nnamdi Kanu – if he is alive) could be shot at sight pursuant to their having been declared terrorists.”

It then asked the government “Not to take any further action so as to avoid irreparable damage to the Victim, IPOB and its members, pending the decision of the Commission on this Communication.”

Copied in the decision were President of USA, the British Prime Minister, United Nations Human Rights Council, the National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria, the European Commission for Human Rights Africa Union, the US Congress, the House of Commons of the United Kingdom as well as Office of the Prime Minister of Israel and Parliament of Canada among others.

“Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State gave Fulani herdsmen 15,000 hectares of land for cattle colony, the herdsmen thanked the governor and paid back with brutal murder of 35 Kogites.

The governor said the people and government of the state were ready for the cattle colony programme in the state.

Fulani herdsmen have killed 32 people in communities in Dekina and Omala Local Government Areas of Kogi State.

The assailants arrived by boat on Wednesday, opened fire on the people and burnt down homes. An eyewitness said they wore military fatigue and wielded AK 47 assault rifles. Many of the residents who fled for their lives remain unaccounted for.

A source claimed the attackers, “about 500”, burnt down over 20 houses, killed anyone in sight and shot at those who tried to escape into the bushes.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police Monday Bala confirmed the incident during a press conference yesterday but declined to give casualty figures. He said the Commissioner of Police Aliyu Janga has drafted policemen and other security operatives to the area to restore order.

Four members of the family of a serving police officer were reportedly killed during the attack. One resident of the area said the incident might be a reprisal for a 2016 altercation that led to the death of four Fulani herdsmen and an unspecified number of cattle.

In February, Governor Yahaya Bello donated 15,000 hectares of land for the controversial Federal Government’s cattle colony policy. He said Fulani herdsmen would be brought to the land, since the state didn’t have any anti-grazing law, as enacted by neighbouring Benue State.

The Senate yesterday condemned the attack and urged the Federal Government to deploy security agencies in the affected local government areas.

The resolution followed a point of order raised by Senator Atai Aidoko (APC, Kogi East). Aidoko said the herdsmen killed 20 people in Oganenigu community in Dekina and 12 others in Abejukolo and Agbenema communities in Omala.

“I want this Senate to urge President Muhammadu Buhari to direct security agencies to bring the situation under control by arresting the perpetrators and ensuring they are prosecuted. This killing is taking on another dimension, as the killers also amputate people’s hands,’’ he said.

Unprecedented Anambra Election Boycott Leaves International Observers Stunned Thanks To IPOB

    Anambra Elections

The Anambra governorship election has witnessed a disappointing turnout of voters at most of the polling units as people preferred to remain in their homes to observe ‘Ofe Nsala’ Day.

The streets was deserted, shops were closed for business and a hand full of INEC and security officials were present in all the polling units visited.

Voter turnouts was extremely low and in some cases, no single voter except for election officials was seen around any of the polling units.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, had carried out a successful campaign to boycott all elections in Biafra land starting with Anambra.

IPOB leadership has come out to hail the people of Anambra State for successfully boycotting the ongoing governorship election in the state.

Speaking on the alleged low turnout that greeted the elections, spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful, in a statement attributed the development to their directive.

“IPOB wants to use this opportunity to congratulate Biafrans particularly the people of Anambra State for obeying the order of IPOB and our leader Mazi Nnamdi who has been abducted since 14th September 2017 in today’s election.

You Must Account For Hundreds Of IPOB Members And 400 Shi ites You Have Killed – Ex-Minister Tells Buhari

Professor Abubakar Sulaiman who is the Former Minister of National Planning, has come out to declare that President Buhari must give account of the deaths of about 400 members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN also known as Shiites and also Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and  killed under his administration.

Sulaiman, while declaring his ambition to run for the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the December 9 convention chided the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for doing too little to tame the menace of corruption, terrorism and economic hardship in the land.

He stated: “Our president should be ready to account for the blood of 400 innocent Shiite Muslims massacred in Zaria, that of the lDP refugees, the massacre of IPOB members and other state sponsored attacks.

“Mr. President must be prepared to account for the deep hatred he has shown towards certain ethnic groups, which is evident in the lopsided appointments and recruitment carried out by his administration against such ethnic groups in the country.

“Today, Nigeria is at a crossroad. Less than three years after the exit of our great party (PDP) from government, our country bleeds profusely from corruption, inept leadership, civil strives and economic hardship.

“The state of insecurity is quite alarming. The number of casualties arising from the menace of kidnapping, terrorism, herdsmen genocide and other forms of state sponsored terrorism are very disturbing,” he said, noting that “Poverty is now more evident in most families and homes across the country by the Buhari government.”

The ex-Minister whose remarks drew applause from the audience further warned President to prepare for a day of reckoning, stressing that his governance style does not reflect the attributes of a good Islamic leader.

He continued: “When a leader’s mind is corrupt, nothing good can come out of it. As a spiritual being, there is no gain, saying that we will be judged someday by our creator and so I urge president Mohammed Buhari to prepare to face Allah on his style of governance that has emboldened selective justice by shielding the Babachirs, the Barus, the Jaffars, the Kyaris and many other corrupt cases of his beloved appointees in the last two years.

“I want to say with all sense of responsibility that these actions are neither Islamic nor do they portray the virtue of a good Islamic leader.

“It is abundantly clear that hypocrisy and double standards are the hallmark of this administration and the game of the day.

“It is against this backdrop therefore, that the PDP as a matter of exigencies need to rise up to the call, to salvage the country through vibrant opposition party and the needed advocacy.

” On his motivation to vie for the publicity scribe of the party, Professor Sulaiman stated: “Our party deserves a publicity secretary that exudes great personality, a person well known by the media and the general public.

One whose activity has the capacity to command media attention and win the hearts of Nigerians.

A cerebral, a courageous and experienced person with good oratory skills. “Permit me to say that all these characteristics are some of God’s gifts which are inherent in me and flows through me with ease.

As Reaction from world governments slowly trickles in, officials in Britain, Germany and the U.S. have quickly announced their support of a unified Spain.

“Catalonia is an integral part of Spain, and the United States supports the Spanish government’s constitutional rights to keep Spain strong and united,” said State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert.

Spain’s prime minister pleaded for calm and vowed to “restore legality”.”I ask all Spaniards to remain calm. The rule of law will restore legality in Catalonia,”

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister Theresa May both expressed their opposition to the independence of the region that includes Barcelona.

The world leaders were joined later by the head of the European Union’s legislature, who blasted the Catalonia vote as “a breach of the rule of law.”

The Spanish Senate wasted no time in giving its Madrid-based central government new powers allowing authorities to seize control of Catalonia.
